    Abstract:

This project is a result of a private competition. As required in the initial conditions, the building consists of a large supermarket (2,500 m2) and a double-sided extension whose generous size allows multiple commercial, unspecified, distribution options, all with direct access from the street. It also had to be a suitable project for two possible sites, opposite and symmetrical. The uncertainty of the program, which would be developed later, led to aim for a very versatile distribution, with direct access from the outside to all premises and without inside mall, just outdoor passageways covered by canopies. All the premises where easily compartmentalized. The result is a series of shops grouped in an L shape plan that generate an open pedestrian plaza around them and "shopping streets", also pedestrian, which communicate with the existing neighbourhood. A basement is planned to shelter car parks, services and facilities rooms. Loading and unloading of the supermarket, is also done at this underground floor.
