    Abstract:

The project consists in the partial refurbishment of a shopping center in the town of Fuenlabrada. It affects to its facades and the inside mall renovation. Some of the premises had to be reorganized too in order to allow a better overall internal distribution. Outside, the facade of the building was made with salmon coloured precast concrete panels that offered a ppor image. Inside, the inside premises distribution was complicated, winding and poorly lit. Given the large dimensions of the building we focused our external intervention in the main entrance facade, which has direct and unobstructed view from the access road nearby. The project decided to preserve the existing façade as a support frame for a new lightweight outer coating of aluminium composite. The central body was covered with translucent laminated glass, giving the new image of a large backlit glossy cube that guides to the main entrance and serves as mounting for outdoor commercial signs. Inside, the existing circulations were modified, creating a single and wider central mall in continuity with the access and equipped with skylights and better lighting.
