    Abstract:

The functional scheme is ultimate in Hospitals. This axiom was taken into practice when designing the complex. It is a two storey building, set in a comb scheme, with a longitudinal main body, hosting facilities and services, that connects with a series of perpendicular bodies or arms, separated by courtyards, which shelter the extensive program. This way there are four bodies in total, all woven together by different circulations divided in two groups, one for medical staff and other for patients and visitors. In Écija the weather’s most aggressive element is the heat, intense and long lasting. Since heat is produced primarily by the direct incidence of sunlight, we proposed a systematic treatment of sunscreens, according to the facades orientations, the reduction of glass surfaces on walls and no skylights on roofs.
