    Abstract:

The building was the former “Ball Hall” of Carabanchel, where locals used to go dancing in the late 50’s but now it had a significant deterioration, as part of an industrial complex. Although located inside a bigger site, with no facade to the street, the building holds a strong urban protection that ensures its preservation for the future. A project was made to replace the industrial buildings with new housing and therefore this building became part of a residential complex. In its new use the listed building is intended for two outstanding houses and a large common sports hall. The work consisted of demolishing the old industrial buildings attached to it, provide new facades and restore the old terraced roofs and wooden structure. This restoration involved structural reinforcement and replacement of damaged parts to maintain the type of original materials and finishes.
