The project consists in the replacement of an industrial building in Carabanchel downtown, creating new housing instead. The main factor of the project was the existence of a listed building within the site that needed complete restoration. The new houses plan should respect the official alignment and the roof should be sloped towards the street. We proposed a single volume along the site’s main facade which gathers most of the flats while the listed building is intended for two outstanding houses and a large sports area for common use. Between the two buildings we planned recreational areas such as gardens, pool and inner circulations. There is a single entrance to the complex from the street outside by a passageway that connects with the garden inside. So does the vehicle entrance. The facades are made of face brick and stone plinth in a search of mimesis with the urban surroundings. The modulation of vertical glazing offer individualized viewpoints, yet order and continuity to the urban perception for the street.
