    Abstract:

Concept design of an intermediate station on the high-speed railway that runs from Cordoba to Malaga. The pre-fixed location of the station, over the tracks, led to a design that could optimize the station’s size. The station floor plan scheme is generated by the flow of passengers on their way to the trains and waiting areas, hence its sinuous shapes and variations. The station expands its size on solid ground and shortens on the overpass over the tracks. Two cylindrical connections at both ends communicate the main floor with the platforms. From these two nuclei large canopies arise, as crowning elements that expand outwards, providing solar protection and top natural ventilation. The exterior walls of the station are designed as diaphragms that vary their opacity depending on the orientation and its solar exposure in an environment of extreme summer temperatures and sun radiation.
